Jay Arena, Candidate for Essex County Executive, Calls for New Jersey to Protest Supreme Court Decision on Friday
End All Detentions and Deportations!
Free Movement For All!
Jobs, Free Public Services, and Equal Rights for ALL!
Jay Arena, candidate of the Jobs and Equal Rights for All campaign for Essex County Executive, condemned Tuesday’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the Trump administration’s travel ban aimed at majority Muslim countries. “Yesterday’s Supreme Court decision upholding Trump’s Muslim ban stands firmly in the Court’s racist tradition of Dred Scott, Plessy vs Ferguson (upholding Jim Crow) and Korematsu v. United States (upholding concentration camps for Japanese-Americans),” the Jobs and Equal Rights For All standard bearer emphasized. “The courts will not protect our rights. We must act!”
Arena calls on people to attend the Friday morning (8:30) demonstration in Newark, NJ at the Lincoln Statue, Corner of Springfield and Market Streets to repudiate the racist travel ban, family separations at the border, the planned massive expansion of concentration camps on military bases, and the entire deportation machine that has been erected by Republicans and Democrats alike. “We cannot remain silent,” he argues, “an injury to one is an injury to all.”
In contrast to the elite politics of divide and rule, Arena’s campaign calls for uniting all working class people–immigrants and native born, people of all genders, races, religions, and nationalities—to build the world we want and need–a world where we have Equal Rights for All, Jobs for All through a mass public works program, and free public services for all.
