Jay Arena along with eleven others took the fight to the City Council of Newark, NJ on Wednesday, September 19. They demanded the passage of a resolution by the council calling for an end to the contract with ICE. Read the full article.

“Arena, who has launched a campaign seeking to unseat Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. in the November election, said he hopes his campaign will spark similar protests to stop immigrant detention in places outside of Essex County.
‘We want this to inspire other direct actions like those that we carried out because that’s what it’s going to take to shut down this whole illegal system,’ Arena said.”
